Marzano Teacher Evaluation in Florida,
Aligned to the 2026 FEAPs.

Every Florida district’s evaluation system must include indicators based on each of the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices (FEAPs). In August 2026, the FEAPs were restructured into six numbered Standards. If your evaluation system was built against the previous FEAPs, now is the time to confirm your alignment.

Marzano Evaluation Center provides the crosswalk documentation, professional development, and iObservation software that make implementation straightforward, keeping your district aligned with the FEAPs educator evaluation requirements.

State Framework

Florida Educator Accomplished Practices (FEAPs)

Florida law requires every district's evaluation system to include indicators based on each FEAP (§ 1012.34, F.S.). The FEAPs were restructured into six Standards effective August 25, 2026 (Rule 6A-5.065, F.A.C.).

Our Model

Florida Focused Teacher Evaluation Model (FEAPs-aligned)

Built on Marzano research with Florida-specific protocols. Our crosswalk maps every element of the model to the six 2026 FEAPs Standards.

Adoption Pathway

District-selected, state-reviewed

Florida doesn't approve evaluation models by brand. Your district selects a FEAPs-aligned model, and FLDOE reviews and approves your district's overall evaluation system. Our crosswalk gives you the alignment documentation for that review.

How Florida Adoption Works

Three steps from interest to implementation.

Florida doesn’t approve evaluation models by brand name. Your district chooses a FEAPs-aligned model, and FLDOE reviews your district’s overall evaluation system. Here’s what that looks like with us.

Implement with framework, PD and software working together

The Marzano Evaluation Center provide the framework documentation, observer and teacher professional development, and iObservation software, all built to work together and all aligned to the FEAPs.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What Florida Districts Ask Before Adopting

Is Marzano required for Florida teacher evaluation, or can we choose another framework?

Florida law (§ 1012.34, F.S.) requires each district's evaluation system to include indicators based on each of the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices (FEAPs), but it doesn't mandate one specific instrument. Districts choose their own FEAPs-aligned model, and FLDOE reviews and approves the district's overall evaluation system. Marzano has historically been the most common choice: in FLDOE's 2012 alignment analysis, about 44% of Florida districts used a Marzano-based model.

What if our district currently uses Danielson?

You can switch. Choosing a model is a district decision, and your updated evaluation system then goes to FLDOE for review. We provide side-by-side transition guidance so your board, HR team, and union representatives can see exactly how elements map from your current instrument to the Florida Focused Teacher Evaluation Model.

Do we need state approval before adopting the Marzano model?

Not for the model itself. Florida doesn't approve evaluation models by brand name. FLDOE reviews and approves each district's overall evaluation system (§ 1012.34, F.S.; Rule 6A-5.030, F.A.C.), so adopting a new model means your updated system goes through that review. The crosswalk documents FEAPs alignment for that submission and for your board.

Is the Florida crosswalk free, and what's actually in it?

Yes. It shows element-by-element alignment between the Florida Focused Teacher Evaluation Model and all six Standards of the 2026 FEAPs (Rule 6A-5.065, F.A.C., effective August 25, 2026), including the statute and rule references behind the Professional Responsibilities standard.

Does adopting the teacher model mean we also have to adopt the school leader or district leader models?

No. Districts can adopt the teacher evaluation model on its own. Many districts add the aligned school leader and district leader models later since they share the same language and domains, but it isn't required to start.

How long does implementation typically take?

Timelines vary by district size and current setup, but most Florida districts move from initial conversation to full rollout within a single school year. A specialist can map a realistic timeline once we understand your staff size, current instrument, and target start date.

Do the 2026 FEAPs changes affect our current evaluation system?

The FEAPs were restructured effective August 25, 2026, moving from lettered domains to six numbered Standards. Because your evaluation system must include indicators based on each FEAP, it's worth checking your current rubric against the new Standards. Our 2026 crosswalk shows how the Florida Focused Teacher Evaluation Model maps to each one.
